Axatana location at a glance

The Axatana is found in the Forgotten Tower area of Mammon. From the Sester's Gate side, use the connected Bone Gates and jump gates to reach the tower, cross to the correct side, activate the switch or plate beside the metal gate, deal with the guard inside, and take the Axatana from the weapon niche or pedestal.
Where to find the Axatana
The Axatana is not sitting at the first entrance to the Forgotten Tower. Reaching it requires traversal through connected gates, which is why the area marker can be misleading.
Region: Mammon / Ruins of Mammon.
Destination: Forgotten Tower.
Best route to Forgotten Tower
More than one valid approach to the tower exists. Below is a stable route starting from a named beacon.
Route from Sester's Gate
- Start from the Sester's Gate side.
- Reach the courtyard or ledge area.
- Drop down past the courtyard area (avoid entering the abbey interior).
- Go left and use a Bone Gate / jump gate across the ravine.
- Continue through the Forgotten Tower traversal.
- Cross to the opposite or lower side via another jump gate.
Alternative early-item route
If you are approaching from further out, another path exists:
- From the Outskirts of Mammon, head south across the chasm via Bone Gates.
- Continue through Castigator's Keep.
- At the courtyard with the Synaptic Vessel, head east toward the snowy rock outcropping.
- Continue using Bone Gates until you reach the Forgotten Tower.
A further route beginning from Marrow Keep is also possible, but it requires Corruption-cleansing access for its southern launch pad. If you have not unlocked that, use one of the two routes above. For a broader view of the region, see the interactive map.
How to open the Axatana chamber
Once you reach the correct side of the Forgotten Tower:
- Find the metal door or gate.
- Activate the nearby switch, plate, or button to open it.
- Enter the chamber.
Guard and pickup
- A single strong guard is inside the chamber. Source naming conflicts, so we describe it as an elite guard rather than asserting a specific name.
- Defeat or safely handle the elite guard.
- After dealing with the guard, collect the Axatana from the nearby weapon niche or pedestal.
What the Axatana does
The Axatana is a transforming weapon with two forms:
- Fast katana / dual-katana form for rapid attacks.
- Heavy axe form for a slower, harder-hitting moveset.
Common mistakes
- Stopping at the first Forgotten Tower entrance. The weapon is not there — you must traverse to the opposite or lower side.
- Missing the second Bone Gate or jump gate. Reaching the correct side requires using connected gates, not just walking in.
- Missing the switch or plate next to the metal gate. The gate will not open without activating it.
- Assuming the map marker means the weapon is on the tower's first floor. The pickup is deeper inside, behind a gated chamber.
